About

I’m Geoff Sheehy, and I’d like to welcome you to my weblog, where I express my thinking about life, literature, and learning. I teach high school English in South Dakota, though I grew up in New England and hadn’t heard of this place except those times I memorized the capitals. If you’re interested, we pronounce the capital “Peer” not “Pee-yer.” I rarely refer by name to the school and town where I work, attempting to keep my life private in ways. I suppose it’s fairly easy to track down the truth behind this falsehood, but I choose to mask it slightly anyway.

Topics here oscillate between my family and my classroom, though lately I have said less about my family for reasons related somewhat to that confidentiality mentioned above. Since this ultimately is a personal blog, I reserve the right to ignore any and all marketing strategies considering target audiences, and instead I will write what pleases me. One day I may post a poem, the next I may post a paper I wrote for graduate school. Generally, my areas of expertise (a phrase I use lightly) include communications technology, teenagers, my family, my faith, and literature.

I am convinced that good writing genuinely expresses the heart of the writer, which means if you are willing to read this blog, you will come to know me well. May you engage in the process and conversation so I can return the favor by knowing you.
